Vietnam E-Visa Pending or Needs Correction? What to Do
Vietnam e-visa pending or returned for correction? Learn how to check your application, respond to requests and plan your next trip safely.

If your Vietnam e-visa is still pending, check the application on the official portal, confirm that payment was completed and read any message attached to the file. If you have been asked to amend or add information, follow that request, submit the changes and keep proof of submission. A payment receipt or a pending application is not an issued visa.
If you are already in Vietnam, there is another point to resolve before arranging a border trip: the Immigration Department’s current FAQ says that the personal e-visa application route is for people outside Vietnam. It instructs people currently in Vietnam to apply after they have departed. Read the official FAQ rather than assuming a new application can be made during your current stay.
Information checked: 13 October 2026.
Start with the official application record
Open the Vietnam e-visa status search yourself. Have your e-visa application number, the email address used for the application and your date of birth ready, then enter the security code shown on the page.
Use the application number issued by the government portal. If an agent submitted the application, ask for that number and a copy of the latest official message; an agent’s booking reference may be a different number.
The Immigration Department confirms that the official portal moved in November 2024 to evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. Older guides may still point to the previous website.
Check your inbox and spam folder as well, but do not rely on an email alone when you can verify the result on the portal. Save the message and the date you checked it.
Pending, returned for correction or refused: what to do next
The exact wording on your application may differ. Read the accompanying explanation before taking action.
| What the record tells you | Your next step |
|---|---|
| The application is still being processed | Check payment and any outstanding request. Continue monitoring the existing file; do not treat it as permission to enter. |
| You must correct information or provide more material | Read the complete request, make the specified changes through the route provided and confirm that they were submitted. |
| The application has been refused | Read the decision and ask official support what action is available for your case. A request for more information and a refusal are different outcomes. |
| The e-visa has been issued | Download it and check its details and validity dates before making final travel arrangements. |
If you have been asked to amend or add information
Do not try to guess what the reviewer wants from a shortened email preview. Open the full notice and deal with each item it identifies.
- Keep the request. Save a screenshot or copy, including the application number and the date.
- Prepare the correction. Compare the requested information with your passport and travel plan. For a name-related request, consult the official FAQ’s guidance on the passport’s machine-readable name line. If an image must be replaced, check the current official upload instructions.
- Use the route given in the notice. If it provides an amendment link or an option within your application, use that route. If the instruction is unclear or the option is unavailable, contact official support before starting a replacement application.
- Review and submit. After making the changes, check the whole application for consistency. Make sure you complete the submission step; editing a field alone does not establish that the correction was sent.
- Keep the confirmation. Record when you submitted the update and check the application again for a new message or result.
For example, if the notice asks for a clearer passport image, replacing only the portrait will not address that request. This is why the wording of your own notice matters more than a generic list of common errors.
Answer truthfully. Do not change your location, previous travel history or other facts simply to make the application appear eligible.
How long should you wait?
The National Public Service Portal’s procedure for personal e-visa applications states a processing period of no more than three working days from receipt of complete application information and the fee. That is not the same as three calendar days from the moment you first open the form.
If more information has been requested, do not assume the original submission date still gives you a reliable approval date. Check the notice and ask support how the revised file will be handled. Avoid making non-refundable travel commitments around an assumed result.
If the stated period has passed and you cannot see an explanation, send a concise enquiry with the application number, submission and payment dates, the current status and the date of any correction.
Who to contact when the status is unclear
The official portal’s support page and footer list two contacts:
- Application and service enquiries: foreigners@xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn
- Technical problems: technical_support@immigration.gov.vn
Use a subject such as “E-visa status enquiry — [application number]”. Briefly describe what you need clarified and include the exact notice or an error screenshot where useful. If a card payment was debited but the portal does not confirm payment, explain that discrepancy and keep the receipt; do not assume another payment will fix it.
Send application information privately to the verified official contact. Do not post your passport, date of birth or application number in public comments.
Already in Da Nang and planning a visa run?
A same-day return journey only makes sense when you already have a lawful basis to re-enter. If your plan depends on an e-visa that has not been issued, transport cannot resolve that missing approval.
The official FAQ says people currently in Vietnam should request an e-visa after departure. If that is the route you need, allow for time outside Vietnam while the application is processed and separately verify permission to enter and stay in your destination country. Do not book on the assumption that you can submit a new application and return the same day.
Check the permitted stay recorded for your current entry. A pending application does not itself extend that stay. If your departure deadline is close, contact the competent immigration authority promptly to clarify your situation and arrange a lawful plan. Waiting for an email is not a reason to overstay.
Once an e-visa is issued, check the name, passport number, nationality, validity dates and entry type, and confirm that your route complies with the official entry rules. For the separate practical preparations, see our Lao Bao border checklist.
Three questions worth resolving before you book
Should I submit another application to speed things up?
Do not submit a duplicate simply in the hope of moving ahead in the queue. First establish whether the existing file is awaiting a correction, a payment confirmation or a decision. Ask official support whether a new application is needed for your case.
What if the search page cannot find my application?
Recheck the application number, email address and date of birth against your original records. If an agent applied for you, confirm which details were used. If the record still cannot be found, contact technical support with the error and your submission confirmation.
Can a visa run service guarantee approval or entry?
No. We can help with document pre-checks and transport planning, but e-visa decisions and admission at the border belong to the authorities.
Help planning your next journey
If you need transport from Da Nang or Hoi An, message Duy Tan Limousine on WhatsApp with your nationality, where you are currently staying, your permitted-stay end date and the application status. We can discuss the travel arrangements once the immigration position is clear.
